On Offer is this Fabulous EXTRA WIDE Antique Victorian 14 ct. Solid Gold Bangle Bracelet……………. Exact age unknown, but estimated to be Circa 1880. The Victorians were indeed masters in the Art of Jewellery making, and this Beautiful piece is certainly testament to that. It gives NO Clue in its appearance to being well over a Century Old and presents in Fine Antique Condition! True to Victorian styling this is a Smallish sized bangle, intended to be worn low on the wrist like a cuff. The entire outer surface of is smothered with Intricate Embossing that’s accented by fine Black Enamel Tracery known as “Taille d’epergne”, an ancient technique that involved the application of powdered enamel into the recesses of the embossing, which was then fired to achieve a permanent finish. The Workmanship and Artistry is EXQUISITE………. All meticulously executed by hand. The interior is gleaming and monogram free. IDENTIFICATION: As with most Victorian jewellery there are no identifying stamps. Testing both by acid and electronically in several places has confirmed a Composition of 14 ct. Solid Gold, including the clasp. The safety chain is also solid gold. WIDTH: 2.2 cm (7/8). MEASUREMENTS: Oval shaped for comfort with an inner circumference of 16 cm (just over 6 1/4), and inner diameters of 4.7 cm x 5.7 cm. SIZING: For a smallish adult wrist of 15.3 cm (6) or less. It fits my 6 wrist snugly but comfortably. I wouldn’t want it any smaller, so if your wrist is larger than 6 it will be too small for you. CLOSURE: The secure locking tongue and groove clasp snaps gently into place and can’t be tugged open. PLEASE NOTE that the clasp has been repaired. When I first obtained this the male part of the clasp had a badly done repair and was loose. My jeweller has done a professional repair so the clasp is now secure and functions as it should, so the remnants of old lead solder you see are there from the original repair. The safety chain has also been repaired with gold solder, but one of the housings has an old lead solder repair that goes unnoticed when you’re wearing it. The hinge is stable and in perfect order. CONDITION: In FINE Antique Condition with no visible wear or erosion to the Gold. There’s a 1/2 millimetre line on one edge where approx 2 cm of trim is missing but this is of no consequence and only detectable under a jewellers loupe. The outside is completely dent free but there are a couple of teeny indents on the inside that again, are of no consequence. The Enamel work is Pristine on one side with no loss or fading, whilst the other side has some loss and fading. Please bear in mind I’m being Extremely Picky so that you are well informed – despite it’s minor flaws this is a VERY Beautiful Old Bangle! Offered for Sale at LESS than Scrap Gold Price for 14 ct. It will maintain its lustre and appearance the same as solid gold jewellery. It will not flake, peel, fade or tarnish, and can be treasured as an heirloom piece. Gold Filled jewellery should not be confused with Gold Plated jewellery. Gold plated metal is produced by placing the metal into a special solution that contains gold, then electrically charged for an instant. This very thin layer can be worn off by rubbing or through body oils. In contrast, the gold filled jewellery is about 100 times thicker than a plated surface. All Gold is Tested using a GemOro AuRacle AGT3 Digital Gold Tester which is Extremely Accurate and is calibrated before each use. Because all my items are taken in natural light using a macro setting, every detail that would normally not be visible to the naked eye is picked up by the camera lens and appears magnified. In most cases the item will look even better in person than the photos suggest.
